Shield
Maroon and white are colors traditionally associated with the Medical Department. The green disc with gold fimbriation denotes the excellence of unit personnel in safety factors associated with health care. The millstone, a symbol of support, reflects the precision and use of technology in health maintenance of the force. The two crosses allude to medical healing and represent the units supply and maintenance functions.
Crest
Gold is emblematic of honor and high achievement. The lion, symbolic of courage, represents the units World War II campaign participation, and the taeguk commemorates the Korean War campaigns. The points of the triangle together with the taeguk honor the organizations three decorations earned in Korea. White symbolizes integrity and is adapted from the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.
The coat of arms was approved for the 16th Medical Battalion on 23 November 1993. It was amended to include a crest on 15 February 1997
